Background

Addressing Medical Shortages with Container Mobile Clinics: Red Cross Otsu Hospital's Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Otsu Red Cross Hospital, the largest healthcare institution in Otsu City, Japan, faced a critical challenge during the rapid spread of COVID-19. The surge in patients overwhelmed existing fever clinics, straining medical resources and increasing infection risk for healthcare staff.

In response, the hospital turned to FOREMOST's containerized mobile healthcare solution. We provided 3 container mobile clinic units for fever clinics, waiting areas, and supplementary facilities, strategically placed at hospital entrances.

Each unit, with customized interior layouts and tailored air pressure systems, underwent complete external color coating and interior decoration in our factory, simplifying on-site setup upon arrival.Just plug it in and deploy instantly.

CHALLENGES

Otsu Red Cross Hospital, experiences a high volume of ambulance traffic and patient admissions daily. To ensure smooth ambulance access, the design and construction of temporary containerized medical units are of paramount importance.

The three mobile medical units ordered by the hospital serve different purposes and require unique interior layouts to suit their specific uses.

Moreover, two of these units must be positioned within an emergency entrance with a limited 3-meter ceiling height, requiring height adjustments to the container-based structures.

Solution

Taking into consideration the traffic of ambulances and patients at Otsu Red Cross Hospital, we have adjusted the patient entrances of the medical units. This ensures that patients can enter the mobile medical facilities with ease and without hindering ambulance access.

All internal finishes, air pressure systems, and electrical work were completed in our factory, simplifying the setup process for our clients. From design to full operation, these three medical units were up and running in less than four months.
